History

1947

Bill Daniels was awarded government contracts which included brake discs for the original F-5 fighter, many items for the B-47 bomber, and machined blast tubes for the Nike rocket. To this day, DMC continues machining components for the US Department of Defense.

1949

Daniels Manufacturing was incorporated in Pontiac, Michigan. At this time, DMC served major industries including missile, aircraft, and electronics with precision machines parts, and assemblies.

1957

DMC designed and developed an improved version of a popular crimp tool which became the MS3191-1. This tool was produced for Convair, currently known as Lockheed Martin, and was used to maintain electrical systems on the B-58 bomber.

1965

DMC produced the MS3191-4 to replace earlier mil-standard crimp tools. This tool featured an improved design with seven independently adjustable crimp depths providing a range of 26-12 AWG. The MS3191-4 also introduced the use of the double-tipped indenter to produce an eight-indent crimp pattern.

1966

DMC expanded its global reach with an authorized distributor of DMC goods in the United Kingdom. Today, DMC has distributors in 30 countries.

1968

Daniels Manufacturing Corporation expanded production capabilities by opening a satellite office in Orlando, Florida. This office was located at 6103 Anno Avenue Orlando, FL 32809.

1969

MIL-T-22520 was published and replaced all previous specifications. In the same year, DMC's AF8 became qualified as M22520/1-01.

1971

Daniels Manufacturing Corporation® became an authorized supplier of tools for the US military and was listed on the DODs Qualified Products List (QPL) in 1971. DMC introduced comprehensive tool kits and insertion/removal tools to support dozens of military grade electrical connectors.

1976

DMC expanded its portfolio with the addition of pneumatic crimp tools. These tools were designed to support high-production environments.

1982

DMC enhances manufacturing operations with the addition of state-of-the-art CNC machines. Today, our factory includes dozens of modern-day machines including EDM, dual-axis CNC live tooling, and precision CNC milling machines.

1984

Daniels Manufacturing Corporation merged with Balmar in 1984, establishing headquarters in Orlando, Florida.

1985

DMC acquires BETA and began producing backshell tooling, which included the newly designed adaptor tools.

1987

DMC received its ISO 9001 certification from the International Organization for Standardization. Today, DMC is certified to the latest standard, ISO 9001:2015.

1989

DMC added large gage crimping capabilities to cover 8-4/0 AWG. Tools offered at the time included the HD31, HD36, HD37, HD51, HC130, and HC134.

1991

Daniels Manufacturing began producing pneumatic wire strippers for high-production environments.

1992

DMC designed and developed Safe-T-Cable in 1992. This tool has become the standard tool for safety cable application.

1995

DMC acquires Alphatron and begins manufacturing tensile test equipment including the MPT-200A and the PT-200.

1999

DMC became AS9100D certified by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

2005

DMC designed and developed the HXE4, a battery-powered equivalent to the HX4. The HXE4 provided an ergonomic solution for producing form crimps. This product has since been upgraded to a B version and now a C version.

2016

Daniels Manufacturing partnered with NC3 to offer Precision Electrical Termination Certification courses at vo-tech schools around the nation. Today, the PET certification is offered at dozens of schools including, WSU Tech, Tarrant County College, and Pima Community College.

Daniels Manufacturing Corporation® dates back to the early 1940s where it began as a general "job-shop" in the small town of Pontiac, Michigan. With the automotive industry booming, then owner and founder Bill Daniels grew his business manufacturing components of tools used by local automotive manufacturers including Ford Motor Company. In 1957, Daniels' business evolved to include the development of application crimp tooling when he was approached to produce a tool that would maintain the electrical systems on the B-58 bomber. After great success, Daniels' recognized an opportunity to advance his tool offerings and years later our flagship tool, the AF8 (M22520/1-01) was born. Now more than 7 decades later, DMC's portfolio has expanded to include tooling that supports wire processing and harness assembly. DMC proudly serves a multitude of industries including government, aerospace, rail, power generation, telecommunication, medical, automotive, and automation.
